What is Justice40 and Communities LEAP?

Justice40 Initiative is a federal executive mandate to flow 40% of ALL climate investment benefits into frontline communities like Highland Park. Communities LEAP is one of those benefits, and is one stop along our pathway to power.

Communities LEAP is a competitive award for a 12-18 month partnership with the Department of Energy offering up to 500K technical assistance to create a city-wide clean energy plan in Highland Park. What’s technical assistance? It’s like covering the salary of an architect if you’re building a new house - it’s not funding, but technical assistance matters. Read our 2-pager to learn more.

  1. INFRASTRUCTURE - Clean Energy Planning and Development

  2. REDUCE ENERGY BURDEN - Energy Efficient Buildings & Homes

  3. CREATE JOBS - New or Enhance Manufacturing

  4. OWN OUR POWER - Microgrids & Energy Storage

  5. MODERNIZE - Transportation & Mobility Electrification
